Put Your Best Face Forward-
We all covet glowing skin, and too often its easiest to reach for the chemical based products that promise you a flawless complexion. When in fact some of the best results can be achieved using simply what mother nature gave us.
Im a big fan of avocados, not just to munch on but to smear all over our face! Avocados have a natural ability to protect the skin from solar radiation, which makes it ideal for these hot summer months, and highly moisturizing in harsh cold winters! Its hypoallergenic, and can penetrate deep into the skin. Its moisturizing and softening properties give elasticity to even the driest of skin. The fruit contains a lot of minerals such as iron, potassium, calcium, sodium, copper, magnesium, etc. It also contains vitamins A, E, B and K.
Here are some of my fav face mask recipes for different skin types:
Avocado, Honey and Cinnamon - This is a great one for acne prone skin, it helps nourish and soften skin.
2 tbsp mashed up avocado
1 tbsp honey
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon powder
Mash the avocado, honey and cinnamon together until they form a smooth paste. Apply carefully to face avoiding the eye area, leave it on for ten minutes and rinse off.
You can repeat this face mask once a week.
Avocado and Egg White- this is a good recipe for acne because it reduces the oil found on the face.
1/2 a mashed up avocado
1 Egg white
1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
Fold in the egg white and lemon juice to the mashed up avocado. Apply it to your face for 10 minutes, avoiding the eye area. Rinse off with luke warm water.
Avocado and Oatmeal- this acts as a gentle exfoliator for skin. Oatmeal is one of the best natural exfoliators out there and can be used to scour off excess sebum and dead cells from skin.
1 tbsp ground oatmeal
1/4 mashed up avocado
Mix the avocado and oatmeal to make a paste. Apply to face avoiding the eye area. Massage for at least 2 minutes letting the oatmeal gently exfoliate your skin. Leave the mask on for a further 10 minutes. Rinse off.
